CAREER DEVELOPMENT PHILOSOPHY

Individual Design

As an individual, you are uniquely created. Your personality seeks to express that unique nature—it drives you to engage your world. Understanding your God-given strengths, interests, and preferences is the key to identifying the types of work that will engage your giftings.

Professional Development

Your time at MVNU can be a rich, developmental experience that prepares you for life in service and vocation. Academic and extracurricular experiences prepare students for the professional world in ways they often don't realize. An MVNU student not only receives a degree that is valued in their field of choice, they also will develop valuable personal qualities, and a host of skills that employers desire in candidates.

The Well-Targeted Job Search

Job seekers who know what they have to offer and effectively communicate their relevant strengths to employers will reach their goals sooner than those who try to appear as all things to all people. A well-targeted resume will utilize the terminology that relates to the field, and incorporate key points found in the job description. Students should acquire relevant experience for their chosen profession ahead of time, through internships and other meaningful programs and activities. This will help build “transferable skills” as well as the specific experience that employers in the field desire.
